Q&A

What is your background and campaign platform?
I have over five years experience doing this job. In that time I have authored more than 550 opinions and sat on the panel for many hundreds more. I have proven I can do the job and I am the only candidate with hands-on experience doing the job.
What are some ways you have helped determine your own personal biases in the past?
Recognizing that bias can be subtle and unintentional, it's crucial to employ critical thinking when evaluating information. This involves questioning language choices, framing, and underlying perspectives. Additionally, a willingness to consider diverse viewpoints is essential for a more comprehensive understanding and helps identify potential biases. In a world filled with abundant information, cultivating these skills enables me to make informed and balanced judgments.
What inspired you to pursue a path of studying law?
I was driven by a strong sense of justice and a desire to contribute to a fair and just society. I saw the legal system as a means to advocate for the rights of individuals and address societal issues. In turn, I saw the practice of law as a means to bring about positive change in society. Through the law we can influence policy, challenging unjust systems, and contributing to social progress.
What legacy would you like to leave from serving on this court?
My legacy as a judge will be defined by the lasting impact of my legal decisions, contributions to legal thought, commitment to justice, and ethical standards. Additionally, my mentorship, community engagement, and leadership will contribute to a legacy that extends to the next generation of legal professionals. Ultimately, my legacy is shaped by the positive and enduring influence I leave on the legal system and the principles I uphold.
What Democratic values have you or will you apply to your work once elected?
The Democratic value of social justice speaks to me the most because it involves ensuring that all individuals, regardless of their background or characteristics, have equal access to rights, benefits, and participation in social, economic, and political processes. Social justice is a concept that reflects the ongoing commitment to building a more equitable and inclusive society by addressing historical and systemic injustices so that everyone has the opportunity to live a fulfilling and dignified life.
If elected, would you support the Hays County Democratic Party by your presence at events and, if possible, financially? If not, please explain why.
Yes, I would continue to attend events and finically support the Hays County Democratic Party as I have been doing for years.
Will you and your campaign participate in the Hays County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign effort in 2024?
Yes
