Paul Hill

Office running for

JUSTICE OF THE PEACE PRECINCT 2, PLACE 2

Q&A

What is your background and campaign platform?
I'm a Hays County native running to give back to the community that made me the person I am today. By modernizing the court we can increase access to justice. I'm running to be the part of the system that works.
How has your educational background and experience prepared you for this position?
I have a Bachelor’s in Political Science with minors in Spanish, History, and music from the University of North Texas and a J.D. from the University of Texas School of Law. I have been a practicing attorney for the last seven years. In that time, I have had seven jury trials to verdict, including three in justice court. I have sought warrants, and I have argued bonds. I have done the legal work that occurs in justice court every day, and I am ready to fulfill the judicial duties of this job on day one. Further, I am an organized professional who has the time, energy, and dedication to do the best job in this position. I have the ability to be available 24/7 and the fortitude to handle the difficult calls when they come.
One of the duties of Justice of the Peace is setting bonds. Do you currently feel bonds are set fairly or are there any improvements that could be made?
Improvements can be made.
What Democratic values will you apply to your work once elected?
One of the biggest reasons that I am a Democrat is my firm belief that the government, when run by passionate, dedicated, competent individuals, can make a positive impact in the communities it serves. I am running because I am passionate about public service, dedicated to my community, and competent to perform the duties of a Justice of the Peace.
Describe your involvement in the community.
I love Kyle and I am so happy to call it my home. I am thankful for the opportunity to become part of the community here and I am doing my best to make the most of it and give back. I am a volunteer at PAWS animal shelter, I was the Democratic Precinct Chair Lead for the Kyle area, and I have worked to elect local candidates that I believe are the best to lead our community. I also love being a part of the legal community. In addition to being a member of the Hays County Bar Association, I have served as a judge for Texas Young Lawyers Association Moot Court Competition and have mentored young people looking to enter the profession.
If elected, would you support the Hays County Democratic Party by your presence at events and, if possible, financially? If not, please explain why.
Absolutely. I have worked hard to support the Hays County Democratic Party by attending nearly every even possible, serving as a precinct chair, and donating financially to the party and candidates. While my activity may be a bit restricted as a judge, I will do everything I can to ensure the Democratic Party's continued success.
Will you and your campaign participate in the Hays County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign effort in 2024?
Absolutely! My race will be decided in the primary, so I will be available to work within my abilities as a judicial candidate to support the party.
