What is your background and campaign platform?

Rebecca Minnick has served on Wimberley City Council as Mayor Pro Tem since 2019. A Texas Municipal League Leadership Fellow, she has focused on process, transparency and consistency in governance and has worked to address infrastructure and quality-of-life issues. Rebecca’s has had a 30-plus year career in Communications Relations in the private and public sector, including over a decade in the Space Program. What Democratic values to you share/agree with the most?

I most agree with the foundational Democratic values: Equal rights for all people regardless of age, race, gender identity, religious beliefs or abilities; Voting rights including equal access to polls; Environmental responsibility and sustainability, and clean, safe water and air.

What Democratic values do you or would you apply to your work if elected?

Ensuring that our hill country environment can sustain our citizens and our quality of life is a high priority to me. Accessibility of County services from administrative functions to health- and mental-health care to convenient and sufficient polling locations, and safe, efficient and well-maintained roads and bridges throughout the County are also Democratic values-based.

How do you handle making difficult decisions, especially ones with which you do not agree?

I approach decisions starting with facts and data to do my best to understand what problem we, as a governmental body, need to solve. Creating a respectful environment that is respectful and solution-oriented is important if the eventual decision is difficult and involves outcomes that aren’t beneficial to all parties equally. Negotiating in good faith and keeping the tone at a professional level enables the team to be effective in a tough situation.

Will you support the Hays County Democratic Party by your presence at events and, if possible, financially? If not, please explain why.

Nothing will change: I will continue to support the party in every way that I have the ability to do so. In the past, I have volunteered, donated and served where needed.

Will you and your campaign participate in the Hays County Democratic Party Coordinated Campaign effort in 2024?
